Co-founder of Rumble Coffee Roasters and a 25-year coffee industry lifer, Joe writes Rumble's brew guides and helps home coffee drinkers get more from their beans.
Joe Molloy is co-founder of Rumble Coffee Roasters, where he leads Business Development and creates much of Rumble's consumer-facing content — from brew guides to Reels — helping home coffee drinkers get the most out of their beans. He's spent over 25 years in the industry, from barista to café owner to roaster, and now wholesale partner to cafés across Melbourne.
Joe started in coffee as a barista in Wellington, New Zealand in 1999. In 2003 he co-founded Octane Espresso in Melbourne, growing it to five stores before moving into social enterprise with the Social Roasting Company. He then co-founded the Truffula Seed espresso bar in 2010, where he learned to roast. After selling that business, Joe joined long-time friend Matt Hampton to start Rumble Coffee Roasters in the backstreets of Kensington in 2014.
Today Rumble is a certified B Corp (since 2023), supplying dozens of cafés across Melbourne's specialty coffee scene, running its own venues including Double Dutch Bakery and the Rumble Espresso Bar, and partnering with Cobb's Coffee and Cobb's Canteen in Ballarat.
Joe writes about coffee and the café industry, including Rumble's home brewing content and brew guides, and also works directly with café owners on wholesale coffee partnerships.
