Guatemala Los Pinos
Introducing Guatemala Los Pinos. Clean and juicy. Fruity with a solid, sweet cocoa body
High above 2000 MASL in Santa Barbara, Huehuetenango, Renardo Ovalle’s Los Pinos farm sits among towering pines. Established by the Vides family in 1958, today Renardo experiments with small plots to craft distinctive lots of Caturra and Bourbon. Handpicked cherries undergo a carefully sealed 36-hour fermentation, followed by an additional 16 hours of traditional washed fermentation. Cherries are then washed and dried for 15 days. The result is a clean, juicy cup: fruity brightness layered over a solid, sweet cocoa body.

PRICING EXPLAINED
*This is the FOB (Free On Board) price: the price paid to the exporter before shipping, and which does not include shipping costs, weight loss (around 17%), storage and other charges. Ultimately, the FOB price represents the $ figure that stays in the coffee's country of origin, benefiting its producer, community, and beyond.
^This is the 'raw' price paid directly to the producer, and paid in the local currency for parchment coffee. The coffee is then milled and sorted before being placed in bags, ready for shipping.
ABOUT
In 2013, Renardo Ovalle planted coffee in several plots that collectively he called Los Pinos. It’s a fitting name too: the farm, due to its impressive height above 2000 MASL, is home to a family of old, towering pines.
Los Pinos is located in Santa Barbara, a municipality near Huehuetenango where rainfall is much more scarce compared to other regions in the area. The varietals that were planted for this lot include Caturra, and Bourbon.
