Costa Rica Hacienda Sonora
Rumble's latest single origin for filter, this coffee from Costa Rica, Hacienda Sonora tastes just like Turkish Delight in a cup.
HACIENDA SONORA
Hacienda Sonora Estate has been in Alberto Guardias’ family for over a century with its history deeply rooted in coffee cultivation. Today, the estate boasts an impressive range of over 20 varieties spread across 80 hectares of land.
Hacienda Sonora maintains distinct plots for each varietal, following the common practice of preserving separation and identification until the point of exportation.
This practice extends to the standout SL28 varietal. Not only does SL28 offer a delightful and intricate flavour profile, but it also exhibits the promise of exceptional cup quality and a profound resilience to drought conditions. This particular micro-lot benefits from a natural drying process that amplifies its tropical notes and array of gorgeous fruit flavours.

This micro-lot was also meticulously hand-picked and processed separately. The cherries undergo a rigorous process, including floater separation and pulping using Penaagos equipment while retaining 100% of the mucilage. The coffee is then carefully patio-dried for a duration of 9 days. Subsequently, it rests for three days in a warehouse with a humidity level of 14%. Mechanical drying is then employed to ensure uniformity, with temperatures maintained below 35°C.

Once the coffee reaches 10% moisture, it rests in parchment for a period of 2 months before being sorted based on weight, screen size, and density and it goes through a colour sorter.

PRICING EXPLAINED
*This is the FOB (Free On Board) price: the price paid to the exporter before shipping, and which does not include shipping costs, weight loss (around 17%), storage and other charges. Ultimately, the FOB price represents the $ figure that stays in the coffee's country of origin, benefiting its producer, community, and beyond.
^This is the 'raw' price paid directly to the producer, and paid in the local currency for parchment coffee. The coffee is then milled and sorted before being placed in bags, ready for shipping.
