Rwanda Laurance Mukakabera
Laurence Mukakabera is a leader within Rambagirakawa, the women’s alliance of the Dukunde Kawa Cooperative in Rwanda. A dedicated coffee farmer and skilled basket weaver, she divides her time between tending her 550 coffee trees, crafting handmade baskets with fellow members, and caring for her granddaughter.

Born into a coffee-growing family, Laurence’s life is a story of resilience. After losing her husband during the Rwandan genocide, she fled the country with her children, later returning to rebuild her farm and her future from nothing. Through years of hard work, she restored her land, educated her children, and became a respected leader within Dukunde Kawa.
The cooperative has helped Laurence reach new markets for both her coffee and her craft, providing stability and empowerment for women farmers across the region. Her coffee, grown with meticulous care, is intensely sweet and juicy — a reflection of her strength, skill, and unwavering dedication.

PRICING EXPLAINED
*This is the FOB (Free On Board) price: the price paid to the exporter before shipping, and which does not include shipping costs, weight loss (around 17%), storage and other charges. Ultimately, the FOB price represents the $ figure that stays in the coffee's country of origin, benefiting its producer, community, and beyond.
^This is the 'raw' price paid directly to the producer, and paid in the local currency for parchment coffee. The coffee is then milled and sorted before being placed in bags, ready for shipping.
