PRICING EXPLAINED

*This is the FOB (Free On Board) price: the price paid to the exporter before shipping, and which does not include shipping costs, weight loss (around 17%), storage and other charges. Ultimately, the FOB price represents the $ figure that stays in the coffee's country of origin, benefiting its producer, community, and beyond.

^This is the 'raw' price paid directly to the producer, and paid in the local currency for parchment coffee. The coffee is then milled and sorted before being placed in bags, ready for shipping.

ABOUT

Norvey bought his first plot of land 17 years ago after working as a picker from a very young age. Over the first seven years, he built a house and bought some neighbouring land with a vision to expand the farm.

Now, Norvey is the proud owner of 8.5 hectares of beautiful land in the Tolima region, eight of which are planted with shade-grown coffee. Always keen to innovate, Norvey is a producer who is passionate about constantly improving the quality of his coffee and striving for a more sustainable income for his family.

Once the heartland of the FARC guerrillas, the wars of 1964-2016 made life very difficult in the area surrounding Bilbao. Today, Norvey and his community enjoy the prospect of a much brighter outlook thanks to the 2012 signing of the peace deal.

Processed by Norvey with loads of his trademark knowledge and passion to boot, this coffee was left as whole cherries for 14 hours before pulping and fermenting on beds. It was turned constantly before drying in parabolic shade patios for 15 days. Enjoy!
