About the Farm - El Diviso
Some coffees are memorable because of the variety. Others because of the producer. This one is both. Our third year buying from Néstor Lasso, this Ombligon comes from El Diviso, one of Colombia's most exciting farms. Working alongside his brother Adrián and the team at Cata Export, Néstor has helped redefine what's possible with fermentation, producing coffees that have won international competitions and continue to push the boundaries of Colombian specialty coffee.
About the Advanced Natural Process
This Advanced Natural lot is the result of an incredibly precise processing protocol. Rather than relying on intuition alone, every stage has been carefully developed and refined, from multiple fermentations and thermal shock to rehydrating the coffee before introducing fresh cherries and completing a meticulous two-stage drying process. It's an extraordinary amount of work, but one that allows the Ombligon variety to express remarkable sweetness, sparkling acidity and the intensely fruity character that makes this coffee so unforgettable.

Pricing Explained
FOB (Free on Board)
This is the FOB (Free On Board) price: the price paid to the exporter before international shipping, and which does not include shipping costs, weight loss (around 17%), storage and other charges. Ultimately, the FOB price represents the figure that stays in the coffee's country of origin, benefiting its producer, community, and beyond.
We publish FOB in both $USD/lb, the standard used for international coffee pricing, as well as $AUD/kg to make the price easier for Australian customers to understand.
Farm Gate Price
The Farm Gate price is the raw price paid directly to the producer, and paid in the local currency for parchment coffee. The coffee is then milled and sorted before being placed in bags, ready for shipping. In some cases, the Farm Gate price is marked as N/A. This is typically when we purchase the coffee through a co-op or a collective of producers.
Market Price
This is the global commodity coffee price at the time of purchase (known as the 'C Market') which is commonly used as a benchmark for coffee prices around the world.
Fairtrade Price
The Fairtrade price is the minimum set by Fairtrade International for certified coffee. It's a safety net when the market price is low, but it isn't designed to reward coffee producers for the quality of their coffee. We include it because it's a recognised industry benchmark, against which to compare the price that we paid.
