PRICING EXPLAINED
*This is the FOB (Free On Board) price: the price paid to the exporter before shipping, and which does not include shipping costs, weight loss (around 17%), storage and other charges. Ultimately, the FOB price represents the $ figure that stays in the coffee's country of origin, benefiting its producer, community, and beyond.
^This is the 'raw' price paid directly to the producer, and paid in the local currency for parchment coffee. The coffee is then milled and sorted before being placed in bags, ready for shipping.
ABOUT
The Andrade family has been farming coffee for 100+ years. In 1990, they purchased the Sao Silvestre farm, the much-loved centrepiece in their expansion. With its high, flat terrain and perfect weather, it’s no wonder this coffee is extraordinary.
Producer, Ismael Andrade has been at the forefront of coffee farming in Brazil for many years. Experimenting with a range of innovative equipment and processing methods has led to his family achieving multiple Cup of Excellence awards, including top spot in 2018 with a record 93.26-point coffee. Incredible!
This particular lot was machine picked then passed through a colour sorter to remove any unripe cherries. The whole cherries were then put in an open-air tank for dry fermentation before drying on raised beds.
One of Rumble’s first-ever single origins came from Ismael and his family. It’s fitting, then, that we have this amazing Sao Silvestre coffee back in the roastery once again.
