Brazil Pedro Gabarra Uva

Brazil Pedro Gabarra Uva

As an exciting hybrid of Sarchimor and Red Catuai, Uva is a relatively new varietal in the world of specialty coffee. The cherries look like grapes, which is where this coffee gets its name; Uva means Grape in Portuguese.

SUPPORTING SUSTAINABLE COFFEE PRACTISES

Pedro Teixeira, the son of João Newton, is of his family’s fifth generation of coffee growers. As one of our longest-serving partners, Pedro maintains a proud focus on both quality and sustainability, priorities that shine with every coffee we receive from him.

At Rumble, we absolutely love Pedro’s coffees, the team is super excited to have it back after a short hiatus. This beautiful lot went through a temperature-controlled 96-hour ferment before drying slowly on dried beds.

In 2019, Pedro received the award for Brazil’s Most Sustainable Farm (Globo Rural magazine). Pedro and his operation also received carbon positive status in 2021 after a year-long assessment of farm practices.

Maintaining an ever-progressive focus on keeping their approach to farming sustainable, local and sensitive to the environment around them, Pedro and his family have also built a large shelter for hurt or trafficked birds. Called Wings, this special program has been so successful that the team has recently added a second shelter to the mix.

PRICING EXPLAINED

*This is the FOB (Free On Board) price: the price paid to the exporter before shipping, and which does not include shipping costs, weight loss (around 17%), storage and other charges. Ultimately, the FOB price represents the $ figure that stays in the coffee's country of origin, benefiting its producer, community, and beyond.

^This is the 'raw' price paid directly to the producer, and paid in the local currency for parchment coffee. The coffee is then milled and sorted before being placed in bags, ready for shipping.
