PRICING EXPLAINED

*This is the FOB (Free On Board) price: the price paid to the exporter before shipping, and which does not include shipping costs, weight loss (around 17%), storage and other charges. Ultimately, the FOB price represents the $ figure that stays in the coffee's country of origin, benefiting its producer, community, and beyond.

^This is the 'raw' price paid directly to the producer, and paid in the local currency for parchment coffee. The coffee is then milled and sorted before being placed in bags, ready for shipping.

ABOUT

After some time working on a clever way to process small anaerobic lots, Mulugeta has started to release them - lucky us!

After selecting the cherries and sorting them thoroughly, the whole cherries are placed in plastic bags which are then vacuum-packed and monitored. Following, the bags are flushed and sealed multiple times until the desired fermentation level is achieved. The fermented cherries were then dried whole on raised beds for 26 days before milling.

Aligned with its regard as the “birthplace” of coffee, we’re always excited to get Ethiopian samples at Rumble. What’s more, the opening-up of trade rules has meant that we’re now receiving more than ever before. This does, however, bring with it some challenges regarding ongoing traceability. A tight quality-control process is maintained in order to make sure we have the best-possible representation to offer to you, our beloved punters.

We hope that, over the next few years, things become more organised for our Ethiopian farmers - and that life in general becomes easier for those who live in this beautiful country. We’re certainly committed to helping things move in this direction
