Bursting with raspberry, cherry, and lemonade notes — fruity, creamy, and clean with a balanced, juicy finish.
This Red Bourbon lot from Rwanda’s Northern Province bursts with juicy berry sweetness, stone fruit, and crisp apple acidity. Naturally processed through an anaerobic fermentation at the Ruli washing station, it showcases Rwanda’s growing expertise in fruit-forward coffees. Produced by smallholder farmers and managed by the Dukunde Kawa Cooperative, Ruli supports over 300 families through sustainable farming and fair trade. This is the second year we’ve purchased this lot; and it’s as vibrant as ever.
Located near the town of Mususa, Ruli processes coffee from around 320 smallholder farmers, each typically tending fewer than 300 coffee trees. Through a sealed anaerobic process, the cherries ferment slowly, creating a beautifully fruit-forward, complex cup with vibrant clarity.
Ruli is one of three washing stations managed by the Dukunde Kawa Cooperative, established in 2000 to help smallholders access training, agronomic support, and fair export opportunities. By empowering farmers and elevating quality, Dukunde Kawa continues to define Rwanda’s reputation for producing exceptional, sustainable coffees — just like this standout lot.
