We paid 57% above the fairtrade price, because we are commited to a sustainable future for coffee farmers. More on this.

On the awe-inspiring mountains of Nariño, where the Colombian mountain ranges begin, lies a small township named Aponte. Here, Victor Janamejoy resides with his wife, Adela Martinez, and their children.

The farm was originally Victor’s father's, who named it La Falda. When the farm was passed on, it was discovered that Victor's father had planted illegal crops on the farm. At this point, Victor promptly eradicated the existing crops and made the transition to coffee.

For Victor, coffee became a salvation. Paving the way for a better future, his journey began in 2009 and gained momentum in 2019 when he began delving into the production of high-quality coffee.

These days, Victor cultivates both Bourbon and Caturra varietals on the farm, almost evenly divided in their numbers. He takes pride in what he’s accomplished, and in having a farm with excellent conditions while keeping his family supported.

Victor begins his coffee process with careful and selective picking of ripe cherries, which are then transported to the wet mill at the farm. Here, the cherries are pulped and left to ferment for 24 hours in under temperature-controlled conditions. Upon completion, he takes the coffee to his parabolic-covered drying space, where it takes approximately 15 days to reach its ideal humidity point.
