Marlon Del Valle Maragogype
Our new single origin Marlon Del Valle Maragogype, is truly one of the finest single origins around. Sourced from Marlon Del Valle, a grower whom we've been working with for a number of years now, this specialty lot brings a nougat-like creaminess with yellow plum brightness and a lingering bush honey mouthfeel. Highly prized for its rich flavour, the Maragogype varietal is now becoming much rarer due to lower yields and pest resistance. This is stunning.
THE PRODUCER: MARLON DEL VALLE
On our quest to find a great small farmer in Guatemala with the help of exporter, Stephany Davila, we met the wonderful Marlon Del Valle and family who’ve been tending to their outstanding crops for over 25 years.
This particular lot comes from a small planting of Maragogype on the Del Valle family land. The Maragogype varietal is sometimes called the “elephant bean” due to its very large size and it’s sought after for its incredible flavour and richness.
When the Del Valle family matriarch and legendary pillar of El Valle’s coffee production, María Eugenia passed on ownership of the farm to Marlon, his brother Rudelfi and family, a new generation of coffee farmers was born.
Marlon’s commitment to the community and unique agronomic expertise make this coffee something special. While the Del Valle family used to sell cherries to the local market, Marlon and his brother had a dream of building stronger relationships and exporting their coffee internationally. With a lot of effort and a great willingness to learn, Marlon Del Valle is now doing so for the very first time. Rumble purchased our first, single lot from Marlon back in 2020 and we’ve loved the opportunity to deepen our relationship ever since.

PRICING EXPLAINED
*This is the FOB (Free On Board) price: the price paid to the exporter before shipping, and which does not include shipping costs, weight loss (around 17%), storage and other charges. Ultimately, the FOB price represents the $ figure that stays in the coffee's country of origin, benefiting its producer, community, and beyond.
^This is the 'raw' price paid directly to the producer, and paid in the local currency for parchment coffee. The coffee is then milled and sorted before being placed in bags, ready for shipping.
