Ethiopia Gogogu - Transparency Report
This transparency report shares the sourcing and pricing information behind our Ethiopia Gogogu coffee. As part of Rumble Coffee's Transparency Project, we publish what we paid for every coffee we sell, as well as key information about the producer or producer group, farm, and the coffee itself.
Gogogu Washing Station
Gogogu Washing Station sits in the Kofee district of Ethiopia’s celebrated Guji region, where more than 700 local growers deliver freshly harvested coffee cherries throughout the season. Most producers farm around two hectares of land, with coffee providing a vital source of income for their families. By processing cherries centrally, the washing station helps hundreds of smallholder farmers consistently produce high-quality coffees while showcasing the vibrant, fruit-forward character that has made Guji one of Ethiopia’s most admired coffee-growing regions.
How it's produced
Like much of Ethiopia, coffee here is grown on small family farms alongside other crops before being delivered as whole cherries to a local washing station. At Gogogu, every delivery is carefully sorted, weighed and processed using traditional Ethiopian washed and natural methods before drying slowly on raised beds. This shared approach allows hundreds of independent growers to access consistent processing, preserving quality while producing coffees that express the remarkable clarity, sweetness and complexity for which Ethiopian coffee is renowned.

Pricing Comparison
|
We believe a sustainable coffee industry starts with producers being paid fair prices for our coffees. That's why, as part of our Transparency Project, we publish what we pay for every coffee we buy and compare those prices with key industry benchmarks, to help put the price paid for this coffee into context. In 2019, Rumble signed the Transparency Pledge alongside a growing number of roasters around the globe, committing us to greater transparency around coffee sourcing and pricing. Our aim is to offer our customers honest and transparent pricing information so that you can best understand where your money is going. You can learn more about how we source and pay for our coffees, and explore all of our Transparency Reports. |

Pricing Explained
FOB (Free on Board)
This is the FOB (Free On Board) price: the price paid to the exporter before international shipping, and which does not include shipping costs, weight loss (around 17%), storage and other charges. Ultimately, the FOB price represents the figure that stays in the coffee's country of origin, benefiting its producer, community, and beyond.
We publish FOB in both $USD/lb, the standard used for international coffee pricing, as well as $AUD/kg to make the price easier for Australian customers to understand.
Farm Gate Price
The Farm Gate price is the raw price paid directly to the producer, and paid in the local currency for parchment coffee. The coffee is then milled and sorted before being placed in bags, ready for shipping. In some cases, the Farm Gate price is marked as N/A. This is typically when we purchase the coffee through a co-op or a collective of producers.
Market Price
This is the global commodity coffee price at the time of purchase (known as the 'C Market') which is commonly used as a benchmark for coffee prices around the world.
Fairtrade Price
The Fairtrade price is the minimum set by Fairtrade International for certified coffee. It's a safety net when the market price is low, but it isn't designed to reward coffee producers for the quality of their coffee. We include it because it's a recognised industry benchmark, against which to compare the price that we paid.
About the coffee
Ethiopia Gogogu is a soft and juicy coffee with notes of warm strawberry, dried apricot and a creamy caramel praline sweetness.
