Colombia José Elcias Martinez
At just 16 years of age, José Martinez set off to work as a bus driver, discovering Colombia’s every road. And yet, they all led back to coffee - José would eventually buy his father’s farm, beginning his own coffee journey.
WHAT MAKES THIS COFFEE UNIQUE
José keeps his trees healthy and very well pruned, measuring his fermentation process to determine the exact, explicit endpoint for each lot. As such, he’s achieved the perfect balance of flavours.
SUPPORTING SUSTAINABLE COFFEE PRACTISES
Growing up in a traditional coffee-growing family, José Martinez has developed into a farmer like no other. He is passionate, innovative, and always looking for opportunities and advice to improve the quality of his already-stunning coffee.
In 2014, José Martinez had a very small 4x8m drying infrastructure. With the passing of years, and the extra income that he’s received through the production of his extraordinary speciality coffee, José has now been able to enlarge his drying patios and improve the general infrastructure of his farm.
Since beginning his journey into specialty coffee production, José’s life has transformed. The extra income that he now receives has expanded his mindset, as well as his perspective on coffee farming. The rest, as they say, is history.

PRICING EXPLAINED
*This is the FOB (Free On Board) price: the price paid to the exporter before shipping, and which does not include shipping costs, weight loss (around 17%), storage and other charges. Ultimately, the FOB price represents the $ figure that stays in the coffee's country of origin, benefiting its producer, community, and beyond.
^This is the 'raw' price paid directly to the producer, and paid in the local currency for parchment coffee. The coffee is then milled and sorted before being placed in bags, ready for shipping.
