PRICING EXPLAINED

*This is the FOB (Free On Board) price: the price paid to the exporter before shipping, and which does not include shipping costs, weight loss (around 17%), storage and other charges. Ultimately, the FOB price represents the $ figure that stays in the coffee's country of origin, benefiting its producer, community, and beyond.

^This is the 'raw' price paid directly to the producer, and paid in the local currency for parchment coffee. The coffee is then milled and sorted before being placed in bags, ready for shipping.

ABOUT

With his home located in the very isolated Herrera community of Tolima, Colombia, Eduin Hernandez is a young and ambitious farmer doing incredible things under tough circumstances. And this coffee? A particularly beautiful example of exactly that.

Working his small farm of 1.5 hectares, Eduin started experimenting with a variety of different processing methods. Lacking some of the equipment needed for washed coffee, Eduin got resourceful: he focused on honey and natural processed coffees with incredible results to boot. Now improving year on year, Eduin has worked incredibly hard to reach a point where he can now expect prices double that of the internal Colombian market.

The export partner for this special coffee is Cedron Alto, an entity begun by Karl Weinhold. As Karl set out to get better outcomes for smallholders in the south of Colombia, Cedro Alto grew to work with over 75 producers. As a result, Karl has gone on to write a coffee economics book called Cheap Coffee - we at Rumble can highly recommend it!
