Pedro Gabarra Bourbon
Yellow Bourbon is a highly sought-after varietal in Brazil, prized for its sweetness and complexity, but challenging to grow. The tall trees are low yielding and particularly susceptible to pests, demanding careful attention throughout the season. This exceptional lot was selected from just 50 special micro-lots produced by Pedro this year, alongside the Santo Antonio coffee that forms the backbone of our much-loved Shadow Boxer blend. It’s a standout expression of varietal character and meticulous farm selection.
Pedro Teixeira, son of João Newton, represents the fifth generation of his family’s coffee-growing legacy. One of our longest-serving partners, Pedro is deeply committed to quality and sustainability, values reflected in every harvest. In 2019, his farm was named Brazil’s Most Sustainable Farm by Globo Rural magazine, and in 2021 achieved carbon positive status. Beyond coffee, Pedro and his family run Wings, a bird rehabilitation shelter that continues to expand, reinforcing their progressive, community-minded approach to farming.

PRICING EXPLAINED
*This is the FOB (Free On Board) price: the price paid to the exporter before shipping, and which does not include shipping costs, weight loss (around 17%), storage and other charges. Ultimately, the FOB price represents the $ figure that stays in the coffee's country of origin, benefiting its producer, community, and beyond.
^This is the 'raw' price paid directly to the producer, and paid in the local currency for parchment coffee. The coffee is then milled and sorted before being placed in bags, ready for shipping.
