Just across the road from the Maribyrnong River, sits Middle Child; a hole-in-the-wall type coffee shop, that supplies Ascot Vale locals with great coffee, beans for home, and a delightful toastie offering.
The ethos behind Middle Child is small things done well, and this is evident in both the top-tier standard of specialty coffee on offer, as well as the small but delicious food menu. One of the longest Rumble Coffee customers, Middle Child is committed to using ethically-sourced coffee, as well as offering a wide variety of single origins; and owner Lance believes this dedication to really good coffee, and consistency is why his customers love Middle Child so much.
On the menu, you'll find an assortment of toasties, perfect for breakfast or lunch, sweet treats, as well as a solid collection of breakfast smoothies, (all named after the local dogs that frequent the cafe with their owners before a walk along the Maribyrnong!)
The space is small, cozy, and colourful, making it the perfect spot for a morning coffee catch-up. With its art covered walls, and hand-made furniture, Middle Child oozes personality, and its coffee offering is one of the best in Melbourne; resulting in residents from nearby Moonee Ponds and Flemington travelling to get their morning coffee.
